It is the mission of Independent Opportunities
of Michigan, Inc. to provide support and services aimed at enhancing the
lives of individuals and families who have special needs. These special
needs include but are not limited to mental, emotional, developmental,
and/or physical challenges. Our array of services may be provided through
our internal resources or in collaboration with public or private entities.
The focus of our services is to empower the individuals we serve to reach
their full potential by encouraging positive behaviors, mastery of skills,
community integration, self reliance, and fostering within them a sense of
self worth. |

Individual and family needs are addressed and
met through on-going active treatment and support. |
|
All information regarding the individual served
and their family members remains confidential. |
|
All IOM staff are properly trained and
supervised by qualified Support Service Coordinators and\or the Behavior
Consultant. |
|
IOM will provide basic and other necessary
trainings as applicable to the individual needs of the person served,
including CPR/First Aid, Seizure/Medication Dispension and Recipient
Rights. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
All IOM employees are selected through a
structured hiring process, which includes criminal history, drivers
license, and professional reference checks. |
|
Support services can be scheduled for a minimum
of two (2) and a maximum of twenty-four (24) hours per day. |
|
Overnight and vacation support services can be arranged with a minimum
of a two-week notice. |
|
IOM will seek to ensure that requested support
service shifts are filled with qualified support staff as soon as possible.
In addition, every effort will be made to provide emergency support
services and assistance via our
24-hour on-call pager system |

Family and group training to increase effective
parenting and care provider skills. |
|
Monthly visits with a qualified professional to
address family needs through assessment and intervention. |
|
Reduction of family conflicts through proactive
stress management and coping skills. |
|
Respite relief |

One to one support services. |

Individual assessment of strengths and needs. |
|
Development of goals and interventions to encourage independence
with a focus on skill acquisition, community integration, and adaptive
behavior. |

Behavior analysis and modification training for
the individual served and their care providers. |
|
The opportunity to enhance recreation and
leisure activities. |
|
Assistance with personal hygiene, household
chores, and other daily living activities. |
|
Aid and support for individuals in need of
medical care and/or physical assistance. |
